PRESS RELEASE
Bulk Handling Systems (BHS), Eugene, Oregon, developer and manufacturer of processing systems for the recycling and solid waste industry and National Recycling Technologies (NRT) developer and manufacturer of optical sorting equipment, have signed a marketing and product development agreement on February 1st, 2007.
In the agreement, BHS will have the exclusive right to market NRT optical sorting equipment to material recovery facilities and secondary plastic processors when paired with BHS' plastics processing equipment. BHS and NRT have agreed to join together to develop optical sorting equipment for the MSW, C&D, residential and commercial recyclable markets. Further, the new company will engage in product development activities to extend optical sorting technologies into new applications in the residential, commercial, C&D, and e-waste recycling markets.
For NRT, the agreement forms an important extension of its product range in the growing MRF business. NRT has enjoyed the leadership position in the U.S. in the secondary plastics recycling market with its wide range of IR, color sorters, and x-ray technology. In addition, NRT has developed state of the art vision systems to identify materials according to their atomic number, a key component in the recovery of precious metals. NRT holds 25 patents for its unique approach to optical sorting in the waste market as well as for vision systems in the airport security and auto shredding industry.
The agreement between BHS and NRT is an important strategic step for both companies. Steve Miller, President of BHS comments: "The addition of the NRT optical sorting capability is an important addition to our current range of products. We are particularly excited about our ability to provide state of the art optical sorting for container streams and the automated separation of wood in C&D material. NRT is widely regarded as the optical technology leader in the secondary plastics market due to its unique approach to the capture of PVC and other contaminants from PET and other plastic streams. We are pleased to bring this technology to our MRF and plastic processing customers."
