Overview
The MultiSort® IR advanced automated plastic bottle sorter is a high performance system designed for 24/7 operation. Used in applications worldwide, the system utilizes high speed industrial infrared sensing to detect specific polymers within a mixed stream of material and incorporates high precision air ejectors to accurately sort selected polymers from the material stream at high processing rates.
The rugged industrialized computing and sensing systems feature high reliability components and subsystems, built-in computerized diagnostics, and an advanced easy-to-use graphically driven touch screen operator interface. The system provides for modem connectivity with the factory for fast factory technician response, adjustments, and upgrades
Application
The MultiSort® IR advanced automated plastic bottle sorting system is designed to separate specific polymers from a mixed stream of material at high throughput rates. Separations are independent of color and depend only on polymer types. Typical applications are:
- Mixed bale sorting of HDPE, PET, PS, PP, and PVC bottles
- Removal of contaminant polymers such as PVC and PS from PET bottles, and
- Recovery of PET bottles from a PVC eject stream produced by x-ray based sorters such as the NRT VinylCycle® system during removal of PVC from PET.
Technology
The MultiSort® IR sorting system uses proprietary infrared sensing technology and highly accurate algorithms to rapidly detect unique "signatures" of polymers from their infrared spectra. The identified polymers are then precisely separated at high efficiency and low product loss by NRT's proven mass sort system. The rugged industrialized computing system features an advanced easy-to-use touch screen operator interface and provides modem connection with the factory for fast response diagnostics and adjustments
